Hoje é dia dos namorados, e, como não podia deixar de ser, vou indicar um romance.
Mas é um romance diferente do “mimimi” e dos clichês comuns desse gênero.
Primeiro não se deixe levar por essa capa fofa, o livro esconde muitas surpresas.
Vaclav e Lena são imigrantes russos que vivem nos Estados Unidos e de formas muito diferentes. Ele tem uma família estruturada e sonha em ser mágico. Ela mora com uma tia que não lhe dá muita atenção e para piorar não consegue dominar a língua inglesa.
Na realidade a exclusão (por serem imigrantes) os uniu e, a amizade deles já nos sugere o romance.
Os trechos narrados por Vaclav são leves e esperançosos, já os narrados por Lena são pesados e conseguimos sentir sua angústia e tristeza na leitura.
Quando eles tinham 10 anos de idade, um incidente – que só vamos conhecer no final do livro, faz com que Lena desapareça, deixando Vaclav despedaçado.
O tempo passa e muita coisa muda na vida dos dois. Sete anos após a separação, no impulso do dia de seu aniversário, Lena liga pra Vaclav e os dois se reencontram. Eles estão muito diferentes, mas ainda se amam. Porém, enquanto ela não resolver a situação que os afastou no passado, não vai conseguir levar adiante esse relacionamento e, a resolução é surpreendente.
Romance, reflexões e uma reviravolta que poucos autores conseguem fazer, é isso que Haley Tanner consegue causar no seu leitor.
